Welcome to the website of Terrington Village Hall.

Terrington is a lovely village situated 16 miles north of York in the beautiful Howardian Hills area of Ryedale.

Our large village hall was opened in 1994 and is a great venue for meetings, parties, conferences and shows and can accommodate more than 200 people. There is wifi throughout the building. The premises are disability friendly and include a large main hall, a bar area, a meeting room, a baby changing area and a well equipped kitchen. The 20m x 10m main hall has a wooden floor marked out for badminton and pickleball and has flexible staging, stage lighting, a sound system and hearing loop. There are also ‘home’ and ‘away’ changing rooms, each with shower facilities.

Outside, we have a large, well maintained recreation field, two hard-surface tennis & pickleball courts, a fenced children’s playground and a spacious car park with 2 disabled parking spaces. We also have large recycle bins for plastic, papers, cans and glass. There is a round-the-clock, publicly available toilet accessible from the entrance porch.

Terrington awarded grant to build a pétanque court!

We are delighted to announce Terrington Village Hall has been awarded a grant to build a pétanque, commonly known as French boules, court.

The Terrington pétanque project has received funding from David Skaith, Mayor of York and North Yorkshire and York and North Yorkshire Combined Authority.

The funding will be used to commission a specialist contractor to construct an accessible terrain, with final siting informed by community consultation.

“This is fantastic news – boules is a really easy game to play and fun to watch – we know this added amenity will be great for the village.” said Trevor Watson, project lead.

Julie Kaye, Chair of the Village Hall Committee said ‘We support locating the pétanque court in front of the Village Hall, as it is likely to be well used and makes good use of the available space. The

area has been measured and would still allow for a full size football pitch in the future if needed.

The court will provide an accessible activity for older residents and others who may not take part in more physically demanding sports, helping to encourage exercise, social interaction and community involvement. We believe it will be a valuable addition to the Village Hall facilities and will benefit a wide range of residents. It will be a facility that children and families could enjoy providing an opportunity for different generations to play together.”
